Cleaning your driveway

Firstly, cleaning your driveway can be a long mundane task. Luckily here are MEC we can help with this. Using the correct tools will make the job a lot easier to complete

Use the Right Tools

Using different chemicals is the key to success, from removing oil stains to those annoying mould patches that just don't seem to go. Using sodium hypochlorite for those tough driveways will remove 95% of dirt and grime. For the really tough stains such as oil stains - a brick acid is the best solution to ensure that it takes a thin layer off the blocks to remove it. Using a petrol jet wash is also a massive tool that helps as this delivers more power than your average high street pressure washers. This enables us here at MEC to give a deep clean and remove all existing KDS (Kiln Dried Sand) whilst we are cleaning.

Ensuring You Protect the Driveway

Once cleaning has happened a lot of people make the mistake of just leaving the driveway to sit there and believe the job is complete however it is only the beginning. The next step is to ensure that you sweep in KDS to help keep the shape of the driveway.

Sealing the driveway

One practice this is majorly overlooked is the need for sealing a driveway. Unfortunately most people won't do this as it is quite costly. MEC use a very well known company called SmartSeal's products for all of their cleaning services. Sealing helps to prevent the sand lifting from in between the blocks and stops the water sinking in the sand. It acts a thin layer of protection over the driveway increasing its life expectancy and preventing and stains to penetrate the blocks.

Conclusion:

Always use the correct tools and never scrimp on the cost of the driveway because ultimately over time it will cost a lot more money.
